Star Ferry Pier
The Star Ferry Pier started in 1888 where the old KCR (Kowloon-Canton Railways) Terminus was located shuttling passengers between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island and vice versa. At present times, although Hong Kong has developed more sophisticated and advanced mode of transportation, roads, and tunnels, many are still climbing aboard the ferry every year. Star Ferry is reliable, efficient, and has a cheaper fare mode of transportation, a reason that many still love and patronize its service. In fact, Star Ferry crossing is rated by the National Geographic Traveler as one of the 50 places of a lifetime.
There are several Star Ferry Piers used to transport commuters back and forth: Central , Tsim ShaTsui, and Wan Chai. Central Star Ferry Pier is formerly located in Near Queens Pier but was then demolished and transferred to the reclaimed area in front of IFC Tower. Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier is next to the old clock Tower adjacent to the Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade on the left side and on the right side Harbour City and Star City. Shopping is more convenient along the area and so as with restaurants and cafes. The area within the pier is conducive also for guests with an eye for Hong Kong Skyline and during celebration with fireworks displays. Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier is near the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and it provides services to Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier.
Star Ferry, owned and managed by Star Ferry Company Limited, does not limit its services to ferrying commuters back and forth but also offers Harbour Tours. Many tourists like to cruise Victoria Harbour especially at night as you will enjoy the magnificent sights that are unique to the city. Shining Star Ferry is a two-decker with an air-conditioned portion on the top deck and café on board. You can smell and enjoy the sea breeze in an open deck while sipping your favorite drink. Aside from it, if you want a water venue for your wedding, birthday celebration, work function, even a simple enjoyment with your friends, and other public relation activities, you can hire the ferry service.
