Peak Tram Garden Road Terminus
Want to experience and truly see the beauty of Hong Kong? Try the bird’s eye view of the island and ride along the Peak Tram.
The Peak Tram has been the most reliable and efficient mean of public transportation from the Central District to the Peak. Established in 1888, it is the best way to experience the beauty of Hong Kong’s nature.
Should you go aboard the Peak Tram, you need to get to the Central’s Garden Road Peak Tram Station at St. John’s Building. Also, in the lower terminus, situates The Peak Tram Historical Gallery. The gallery felt like going through a time tunnel, having more than 200 memorabilia in exhibit. It will take you in 18th and 19th century Hong Kong. Yes, It's like going back in time.
As the Peak Tram goes uphill, you feel that the surrounding buildings look inclined too - out of this world. The Skyscrapers looked like leaning. The ascension was a bit scary - like the 10-20 meter roller coaster ride (before the drop).
Peak Tram Entering Central Terminal
On top, you may see the jaw-dropping, panoramic view of the whole Hong Kong Island, Victoria Harbour, and Hong Kong Skyline from the Victoria Peak. There are restaurants should you get hungry and shops for souvenirs and other memorabilia.
To get the most of the experience; sit on the right side of the tram to get the best views during the ride. Go on a bright day and even more pleasant at night when all the lights are on. And buy a round-trip ticket ride of the tram so you get to experience both the incline and decline of the tram and gives you a different feeling.
Over the years, both locals and tourists took the Peak Tram as a means of transport. Thousands of tourists and locals use the it every day that the queues sometimes became unmanageable. But everyone agrees and even attests, the Peak Tram is a great experience and that everyone should try.
